THE ONE MINUTE KABBALAH WORD
The one minute word is geared to be a short daily piece, a quick lesson usually based off the weekly torah portion, Jewish holidays or a mystical concept.
Lesson one
We have just finished the holiday of Yom Kippur and now are in the midst of the holiday of Sukkos. What is the connection? On Yom Kippur we have confessed our sins which included speaking incorrectly and looking at inappropriate things etc. and now on sukkos we take the four species: esrog which is a citron, the lulav which is a date palm, the hadassim which is a myrtle, and the aravos which is a willow. One of the symbolisms is that the esrog represents the heart that our heart should be in the right place. The lulav is symbolized by the spine that I will be strong and not fold to peer pressure and I will do what is right. The hadassim are the same shape as the eye that I should see the good in others. The aravos is the same shape as the lips that we should speak positive of others and speak words of torah. We have been blessed with many wonderful faculties, i.e. a mouth a heart a spine…may we all use them correctly.
Lesson Two
A Sukkah is a thatched hut which Jews dwell in during the holiday of Sukkot. We do this to make ourselves aware that the only security in life is that which God provides. You can live securely in a Sukkah because God told you to live there and you can live insecurely even in a palace. The first Jews who lived in a Sukkah were the generation of the Exodus and a great nation came out of them and many Holy books.
