Young Israel of Coram

Located in rural Long Island, The Young Israel of Coram is one of the most active Synagogues in the region. With programs ranging for all ages, we provide our community with the best programs for all of their spiritual needs. We also produce our own TV outreach programs heard around the Island on Channel 20. We invite you to come and see for yourself by arranging an appointment with the Rabbi at 631-698-3939.

Installation Dinner

Winter is gone (it never really came this year!) and spring is upon us. The flowers are budding, the birds are chirping and that amazing weather that everybody loves is right outside our doors. And to believe Passover has also gone by so quickly! Just as I was starting to get used to matzo! But that is how it goes in our ever changing world. Here at the synagogue much is happening as well. We have an exciting new womans group that convenes every Wednesday night. This and other classes are given by Rabbi Shmuel Golshevsky. As the congregants are aware, Shmuel has been an integral part of our temple. From a young age, Shmuel was leading the beginning and end of our Shabbat services, learning with people on the long summer Shabbat afternoons, and was involved in various other programs. We have Watched him grow right in the temple backyard! Shmuel feels very strongly about building our synagogue and community. Shmuel hopes to build up our congregation. The reason d`etre of our synagogue is spiritual growth and that is what Shmuel hopes to do. On the 31st of June, we will be honoring Rabbi Shmuel with an installation dinner, in continuing on the heritage of this synagogue. But this is not entirely about Shmuel. Judaism is not found on a shelf in a book. It is not just about a type of necklace you wear or whether you eat bagels n lox. let us about how we live on this world and beyond. lt is ideas which manifest into action, and that is what this dinner is about, continuing to be a beacon on the Island of a living Judaism. Giving the opportunity to ANY Jewish person to come and grow. So whether you consider yourself to be a full time member, half a member or not a member at all, come and share with us this night. May we all continue to grow spiritually and give meaning to our lives. Please join us at our Installation Dinner on Sunday June 3rd, 6pm at the Young Israel of Coram, 981 Old Town Rd, Coram, NY 11727. The donation for dinner is S25 per person. We are also accepting ads for our journal commemorating this glorious event. 1/4 of a page - S35; 1/2 page - $50. A S100 ad for our journal entitles you to a full page and one free seat at the banquet.
